Invented in the year 1700, the conveyor system was initially used for moving grains in bulk from one location to another. The system that was once just a simple machine based on the principles of the pulley system, has now been improvised into a more complex technology thereby extending its significance in the corporate world. The conveyor system thus finds its use in airports, manufacturing plants, warehouses and mines to transport heavy loads from a given spot to another. It not only ensures smooth and easy movement of objects but also does it timely, saving time, energy and labor cost for the user and as a result boosting productivity by reducing production cost.

The conveyor system is broadly categorized under three labels: the bucket system, the roller system and the screw conveyor system. As the name suggests, the bucket conveyor system is primarily used for shifting goods in buckets. These are mostly powered manually and are extensively used in mining to transport iron ores. The roller conveyor system on the other hand is designed to bear several round cylinders underneath a long surface, on rotating which the items on the surface gain momentum as well. This is mainly used in food processing and packaging industries. The screw conveyor system again, comprises of enclosed long metal tube within a crew and is used chiefly for the purpose of transporting liquids.
